Just because Mental Health Awareness Month is over, that doesn’t mean there aren’t a ton of fun wellness events to attend in the Los Angeles area. Whether you want to support a loved one or are looking for community yourself, there are plenty of mental health events to check out in Los Angeles. Bingo for Your Mental Health
Wednesday, August 3rd from 11 am to 1 pm
The Veteran Peer Access Network and City of Compton invite you to Bingo for recreation, wellness, and connectedness. The event will begin with a meditation and include refreshments, music, prizes, and fun! This is a safe and fun space for veterans and military family members to come together. Sound Bath Meditation at the Park
Monday, August 8th from 11 am to 12 pm
The three most common and familiar eating disorders include anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating Take part in a one-hour Sound Bath and Guided Mediation at Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area. All you need is a yoga mat or blanket, water, and an open heart. Get directions and register ahead of time here.
Live Book Launch Event: Therapy Isn’t Just for White People
Saturday, August 13th at 2 pm
Join author Kiara Imani and guest Dominque Diprima for the launch of Imani’s debut memoir, Therapy Isn’t Just for White People. The book discussion and signing will take place at Malik Books in Culver City, CA. Therapy Isn’t Just For White People is a brilliant debut memoir chronicling Imani’s compelling journey to understand the racial trauma experienced by many Black people in America and the underlying effect it has on Black mental health. Through therapy, Imani was introduced to the concept of racial trauma, and discovered how her own unrecognized racial trauma affected her mental health, self-image, and worldview. Mental Health Mondays in
Monday, August 22nd at 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Mental Health Mondays with Dr. Makeda Moore is a collaboration with Sole Folks, bringing mental wellness to Leimert Park through a weekly seminar to reduce stress through open dialogue and meditation.
Each session will include grounding exercises to promote a sense of peace, safe space to process life’s stressors in a constructive manner, practical tips to nurture mental health, as well as guided meditation with sound bowl healing.

CSU’s Morning of Wellness
Saturday, August 27th from 9 am to 1 pm
Every fourth Saturday, Community Service Unlimited ‘s Morning of Wellness offers a movement or healing session lead by a local Health and Wellness provider. Bring your spirit, mind and body and a friend. In august, you can choose to participate in Family Yoga, Calming Art-Making, or a Back-to-School Snack Workshop.
